The Bee Gees, like Styx, are another band who seems to have fallen into the position of being known for only one song when they have had a long and successful career. In the late 60's, the Bee Gees were putting a much different, much more serious type of music that was both poetic and moving. I love the emotion in this song both from their voices and even in their faces as they sing it. This was back when Robin sang much of the lead but you can get a hint of Barry's falsetto that would become huge in their later recordings. This song was their first #1 American hit after Robin had rejoined the band ( quitting earlier as he felt their manager favored Barry too much)and really is a beautiful early 70s song.

How Can You Mend a Broken Heart
I can think of younger days when living for my life
Was everything a man could want to do.
I could never see tomorrow,I was never told about the sorrow.
And how can you mend a broken heart?
How can you stop the rain from falling down?
How can you stop the sun from shining?
What makes the world go round?
How can you mend this broken man?
How can a loser ever win?
Please help me mend my broken heart and let me live again.
I can still feel the breeze that rustles through the trees
And misty memories of days gone by
We could never see tomorrow, noone said a word about the sorrow.
And how can you mend a broken heart?
How can you stop the rain from falling down?
How can you stop the sun from shining?
What makes the world go round?
How can you mend this broken man?
How can a loser ever win?
Please help me mend my broken heart and let me live again.

Dude, how can you not have used "Massachusetts" as your fave early Bee Gees song? Or "To Love Somebody"? :P
