Working Man - Rush

Rush is phenomenal, in my opinion the greatest Canadian rock band ever created ( mind you, my opinion). This is greatly anchored on their drummer Neil Peart, who is absolutely tops in his field. But has anyone ever heard of John Rutsey? Because on Rush's 1977 debut, it was Rutsey pounding the skins, not Peart. This was a fact I was unaware of until actually owning the record and seeing Rutsey's smiling face on the back. Still, I find this song to be one of my favorites by the band, and the drumming in it is superb. It of course is exemplified by the clash of bass and guitar in the bridge and an outstanding, as always, vocal performance from Geddy. This is a great tune to pick up and just wonder if the was the sound Rush would have had if Rutsey had not left due to health issues.

Working Man

I get up at seven, yeah
And I go to work at nine
I got no time for livin'
Yes, I'm workin' all the time

It seems to me
I could live my life
A lot better than I think I am
I guess that's why they call me
They call me the working man

They call me the working man
I guess that's what I am

I get home at five o'clock
And I take myself out a nice, cold beer
Always seem to be wonderin'
Why there's nothin' goin' down here

It seems to me
I could live my life
A lot better than I think I am
I guess that's why they call me
They call me the working man

Well, they call me the working man
I guess that's what I am
